Networks tie all the threads of a company together to create a seamless work flow. Technology in todays work place has the potential to greatly increase productivity when utilized properly and running at an optimal pace. To accomplish this a secure and dependable network structure must be in place. Connection between workstations, available printers, scanners, external storage devices and even remote off site access can be a successful union through the gateway of a network.
There are several main networking service that Purrfection offers knowledge and skill in execution and maintenance.
Ethernet/Wired Environments—
This type of network involves cabling from each work station and peripherial to the server. These types of networks can be cabled in behind walls, providing a plug in; ran through the ceiling or cabled in smaller venues, along the wall.VPN— Virtual Private Networks—
A Virtual Private Network allows key members to work from different locations such as home, a second office or travel. As long as an internet connection is available, secure access can be obtained. By definition, it is the use of encryption in the lower protocol layers to provide a secure connection through the internet. Encryption can be sustained through the use of a firewall and sometimes routers. This prevents a listener/hacker from obtaining information via the network structure.
Wireless Environments—
There are two types of wireless networks. The first is for small venues and each computer communicates with another through the use of wireless cards. These provide access and communication on a smaller scale between coputers; peripherials are not so easily integrated. The second is the more common for larger venues. All workstations communicate via a central hub. The hub allows for the wireless to find the wired such as printers and other necessities. The hub can be either an actual hub such as a LANhub or Apples Airport Base Station or it can be a central computer such as a server that has the software and wireless card use to communicate to the other workstations.
